Its been pointed out that the mom and daughter are trying to resurrect their previous papa by getting the mom pregnant, but since she has a weak constitution and possibly unable to birth a child, the daughter is the insurance.
Its an actual thing being done by some cults in Japan.

straight up head canon. there is still alot we dont know, including why they are doing what they are doing. i highly doubt they are in a cult simply because so far there has been no talk about religion or occult things. i also dont buy that the mom has a weak constitution. she says she does but shes also trying to get her husband to fuck her daughter so i dont really believe anything she states as fact.

i saw it as just another creepy thing they are doing. to take something like that so far out of context, i mean i get it. ive read this series at least 10+ times, trying to find little things to help make sense of their actions. but there has been no mention of cults or magic or anything. you cant just wake up and think oh if i just have my kid fuck this guy we will have the dad back. it doesnt make any sense. it would make more sense if the mom was just psychotic and groomed her daughter to get knocked up by and older man so they could re live the perfect family she has in her head.
