It's really good when the father shoots down obvious sexual intentions from his stepdaughter because he's a good man and wants to be a good father, but she's doing a crafty job at subjecting him to sexual advances under the guise of just wanting to be close to him. I get the dad, if he could choose to escape from the daugther he would already done so, but he is in love with the mother and dont want to lose her.
Honestly, in this situation it just sucks to be in his shoes, he already have someone that he is in love with, no need to indulge or tolerate the weirdo daugther, but in doing so he risk losing his love

I would agree with you if we were talking about the Western world, but considering how Japanese people are reserved about their own lives, it is a bit unlikely for them to share something like that, but who knows, you might be right, I just assumed what I said based on what I've seen so far, there can always be a first time and we can see this change in manga now.
