Older chapters not loading?

Picking up on the Demon Slayer hype train, reading the manga has been a struggle and this seems to happens on other ones too (tested randomly). Most recent chapters are fine, they load fast and instantly, but older chapters images more often than not fail to load. Tried other browsers, pc, etc, same result.

@mrmaster It's expected that older images load more slowly, that's just how caching works. Recently accessed images are cached and can be served quickly to everybody. If nobody has been looking at some old chapters for quite some time, there are no cached images to serve, so the caching servers must first retrieve the originals from the slower main servers.

They shouldn't be completely failing, however. You could try changing the image server option in the reader settings and it might help to some extent (refresh the page after changing to make it count). Note that it's an advanced option in the default reader, so you may have to enable the advanced settings option at the top of the settings window.

i'm having the same issue now many older manga's will not load including one i was reading recently

Same here, I'm having issues with loading chapters for Murenase! Shiiton Gakuen on all of my devices

I was having this problem just now, but changing the image server worked. It was set on automatic before.

I was also having this problem, but switching to NA/EU 2 image servers fixed it. I guess the NA/EU 1 server is having problems right now.

No, that's not what we mean.

What we mean is that any chapter not loaded recently on the latest update are not loading. (I've been able to load chapters updated from 16 hours ago.) The older chapters are simply not loading for some of us.

Thanks for that suggestion, choosing the other server resolved this issue for me.

ok swapping no NA/EU 2 worked for me too but hopefully what ever is effecting NA/EU 1 will be fixed if everyone starts swapping to one server it might just clog that one up

How can you switch servers?

Edit, found it:
Click the cog.
Check the advanced settings checkbox.
Scroll down to Image server and change it to NA/EU 2 or Rest of the World.
Reload the page.

so I have the same issue, but i'm having trouble finding where to switch image server?

I tried clicking on cog>more settings but from here im lost :x where is the adv setting? or am i going through a different setting option?

I need to read some Panlong >:?

edit - wow am i slow or not thinking more broadly. do these steps which watchesyoupee put out above me from the chapter itself not like from your personal settings.

i have this problem as well
when i load an older page for rereading (something i often do) i suddenly get bombarded wit a whole list of
image X failed to load tap to reload (X as in the page number/faillure line)

when i press it to reload it flickers once and immediatly reverts back

i never had this problem before
i have tried legacy reader
i have tried each auto/eu/us server

nothing works for some reason

@Holo the certificate on https://s2.mangadex.org/ (I assume that's the NA/EU 1 image server) has expired. That's why the images are not loading.
