even though they gone, the Rocks pirates still got the drip. very Strong World vibes

from how Harald said it, claiming Ragnir is only possible after eating the treasure of Elbaph

If you ask me, having Imu's control-tattoo on Shanks's left arm cheapens Shanks sacrificing it to save Luffy (all the way back in chapter 1).

"He gave up a limb to save a kid!?"
--> "Actually, no. He wanted to get rid of it anyway; saving Luffy was just a bit of a bonus."

Loki seriously is like Luffy. Harald's practically giving Loki the opportunity of a lifetime to not only ascend the throne but to become known as a hero. But considering the circumstances in the present (most giants hate/fear Loki, and still admire Harald), I'm guessing that Loki refused and willing chose to be known as the one who killed Harald to steal the devil fruit; just so Harald's legacy would remain clean to Elbaph, but also that Elbaph doesn't fall back to it's past of violence, all for the sake of the dream shared by Harald and Ida.

If you ask me, having Imu's control-tattoo on Shanks's left arm cheapens Shanks sacrificing it to save Luffy (all the way back in chapter 1).

I suppose it depends on how you see it. But honestly, Shanks sacrificing his arm to save Luffy, never made much sense to me (well once we started having an understanding on Haki) considering how powerful Shanks is. In fact even the idea of Shanks sacrificing his arm to get rid of Imu's mark doesn't make sense when it becomes a question as to why not just get rid of his arm sooner. He doesn't need a Sea King to do so. Shanks could just cut off his arm or have his crew do it for him.

However if you look at it from a different angle, things actually make sense. So rather than "Why did he give up his arm then?" or "He always wanted to get rid of it", it's more about "What did Shanks losing his arm mean to Luffy?":

When you look at it from that angle, then it doesn't matter why Shanks didn't choose to remove his arm sooner or whether it was to save Luffy or just remove Imu's influence. The lost of Shank's arm served a major point for the series and that remains unchanged even now, which was a message and seed of inspiration for Luffy about the type of Pirate he'd want to be. This combine with Shank's words to Whitebeard, about giving his arm up for a new era further implies that what Shanks intentions at that moment wasn't about just saving Luffy, or ridding himself of Imu's influence. But more importantly it was to help give Luffy the push he'd need. So Shanks had to lose his arm at that moment and in that situation

This of course is based on the idea that Shanks knew exactly what the gomu gomu no mi really was, and that he was looking for the most suitable candidate for it. Luffy eating it threw a small wrench in Shanks plans, but managed to not only salvage the situation but even improve it.

That's at least how I see his sacrifice.

...It just occurred to me, The Gomu Gomu Nomi is probably in that chest.

Edit: If that is not the case, I would be happy to be wrong since that means Loki can have devil fruit powers we've never seen before.

King Harald and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. In today's events, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

So, Shanks saw Ace as a little brother. I wonder if he feels the same about Colin?

Since the hammer is alive, guessing its another one of those weapons that ate a devil fruit and became sentient.

IIRC Who's-who said it was stolen by the Red Hair Pirates directly from CP9.
Probably a lie. :thonk:
Sure, but we don't know what's about to happen. The chest could get taken right now by the world government / CP9 and Shanks chases after them and steals it back. That would still line up.

Timeline wise though Shanks needs to get over to Luffy's hometown without delay so he's in time to get his arm bitten off, which makes me wonder why he beelined that way. Did we ever learn why he was out there specifically?

ahhh... wonder if Loki 's last little act of defiance against his father is going to be lying to Elbaf about why he killed Harald so that his legacy could remain relatively Clean. Harald picked the Worst way to go about things but a peaceful future is a good goal, it'd be sweet to see Loki try to preserve that in his own way

would make it all the more impactful that he's getting ready to fight to stop that legacy from being trampled over by Imu and crew for a second time

Honestly Harald throughout all of this has been pretty tragic to see. Like we know why he wants to change so much but he was pretty naive to trust Imu.

I'm not sure. Isn't that a new discovery of Vegapunk's? Unless it was something he rediscovered from ancient cultures like the giants.

So Gaban and Shanks know full well the truth behind Harald's murder, but they still let Loki take the full blame? It's as if he still hasn't suffered enough or something. I wanna say this is the reason that Loki hates Shanks, but if that's the case, he should hate Gaban as well then, which is not the case.

Wonder what present day Hajruddin's reaction to this reveal is.

Unless Loki tells them to let him take the blame. They wanted to reveal everything but Loki insists on not letting his father be remembered in a bad way, foolish sure, but a choice made by a son who loves his father. Remember Gaban was more than happy to let Luffy free Loki at the start of the arc. He knows Loki is a cinnamon roll XXXX....XL at heart.
