Speaking of the writing (and the writing as told via the art), one clear place where it excels is how no one in this story fits into a specific trope or archetype. And that goes not just for the trainees, but even the trainers and workers who barely appear. That assistant with glasses had a number of things to say about the way the producer handled Suryeon with just one panel showing her expression.

I mean in this case Yoil really wanted to prove the producer wrong.

The producer is interesting its almost like he's putting Yoil and Sureyon against each other.

Build up of a rivalry I think. He told her that Yoil did Halo Error and that had her back on her feet.

But that kinda thing is risky.

LMAOOO I CANT SHE DID NOT HOLD BACK ON CALLING HER OUT😭😭😭 if yoil had an extra phone for being “han yoil” and keeping the normal phone for sanghyeon it would be better becuase a phone is really a key part to someone identity but nobody got the money for that🤧🤧✌️

Me after seen picture of cute Yo-il
updfo8T.jpeg

What do you guys think next arc going to be?

Han Yo-il's last three arcs are about her learning to be an idol and other stuff.

1. Han Yo-il Arc(1-14)
Yo-il learns to get used to a female body, makes a friend (Hyojeong), and introduces us to the world.

2. Lee Ruha Arc(15-43)
Yo-il learns to be a girl-idol from Lee Ruha, the May end-of-the-month evaluation, and Lee Ruha's stalker problem.

3. Personality Arc(44-???)
Yo-il tries to be more feminine and then learns that she can be both cool and cute (more precisely, she can be both who she wants to be, and what others want from her), and the June end-of-the-month evaluation.

This is my first ever comic about idol, but usually in sports manga/anime, they would introduce new characters in the next arc, but I don't know if the author will do that.

Yoil 100% makes it to the debut team after this. I'm more scared of who's getting cut

Wait did this guy who is one of the people who judge talents say he thinks it's cool when people keep working and collapse instead of considering their health? I must be imagining things

Most idol stories over-rely on a competition format to tell its story, and then once that arc is over it becomes either a slice of life story about idols or a story similar to a soap opera with unexpected twists and turns to keep things engaging.

This is one of the best stories in the genre now, and I don't think it'll fall into any pitfalls. The Sanghyun/Yoil transformation aspect always helps to keep the story interesting. There are dozens of potential problems that Yoil can and likely will run into once she debuts because of that alone. A lot of that will probably involve new characters.

That's exactly what he said, in a polite and indirect manner. That's why the assistant and Hyojeong were glaring at him.

You know, I can't get a read on Producer Koo (interesting name, as koo sounds like a word in another language I speak that means - ahem - 'rear' or alternately, 'donkey'). He does seem like a good number of mentor figures that egg people to fulfill their full potential by pushing them over the edge (for their benefit). But he could still be something of an antagonist. If Song Geukjang ever decides to add more supernatural elements to this story, I have no doubt that Producer Koo would be the immortal lord who vampires his way billionairely across the room. Unless new characters are introduced when Han Yoil first steps on a big stage.

And yes, this was a nice comfy chapter - which leads me to believe that the axe will come down hard in the next. I still think that our beloved Summer Girl will get kicked out. During the previous chapter, she seemed too distracted by Suryeon's condition - a sign that her empathetic nature is getting the best of her (not to mention the other factors against her). Hopefully I'm wrong. I think we all love her.

Go yoil!!! Blow them away!!!!
Not that "blow" okay?

After the things I've seen on pixiv, it's hard not to get certain 'imagery' out of my head. It is nice to see that Han Yoil and the other characters are getting popular though - who knows, there might be an adaptation in a few years, animated or live action.

Lee Ruha will return. Good. Wonder if Yoil will tell Izumi that Ruha actually hates her.

Lee Ruha will return in Avengers: Doomsday... I mean, in upcoming chapters (finally!).

Still want to know how Suryeon's individual performance went.

Same here. He seems to be enigmatic even for other people at the company, and he's always walking the edge between a wise advisor and a potential obstacle. Probably both.

I also get the feeling that my lack of familiarity with the Korean idol industry plays a part and might be to blame for the dissonance I'm experiencing. I'm reminded of a certain other comic about a guy getting into a female idol group (AKB49, though that one didn't involve magic) and the manager, while ostensibly more helpful, could feel cruel and heartless when holding the idol company's values as the best thing since sliced bread. The story clearly wanted me to sympathize with that perspective, but it felt draconian to me.

I thibk its going to be a rivalry arc, Sureyon and Iruha trying to prove they're better then Yoil so not new but returning characters.

Also I'm curious what Mommy Yuyeon and the CEO are plotting to do, from what its suggested they plan to use Yoil for something 🤔.

I think perhaps use her to advertise the company or something. I see a photoshoot in Yoils future.

Hyojeong almost seems to be here as someone that has to be eliminated, to keep with the same idea Producer is implying, that in order to be a really successful idol, you have to be willing to push yourself like this sometimes. So Hyojeong wasn't successful as an idol before, and won't be here, because she isn't willing to go that far. And Suryeon and Yoil both will because they are both willing to adjust when necessary, and do everything possible to make things work.

This has a slight Whiplash vibe to it in that sense, though I hope we're all wrong and Hyojeong makes it through by some miracle. This would be a really strong-willed, almost stubborn, team with Wonjin, Izumi, Suryeon, and Yoil. It'd be cool to have Hyojeong there as a counterbalance. But this might have been her last chance to show that she can deal with that kind of group.

Well actually Lee Ruha loves her she just doesn't know it yet. :ROFLMAO:

What a brilliant arc overall the series continues to impress. The only part I don't like is when Gonwon learned Yoil's true identity felt it was too early for that and not good that he was the first to learn. However it does seem its being used for his own character growth so far which is good. What I worry is that Gonwon might cause drama with Yoil's sexual preferences as spending more and more time in the female form will have side effects.

I wonder who will be the next one to find out Yoil's true identity?

No need to worry, SangYoil is "being an idol"-sexual, their only love is the love of the grind.

I think So-ae is likely going to figure it out. Seoyoung knows that "Yoil and Sanghyeon" live in the same apartment building, she knows that Yoil and So-ae are from Ploud, and in chapter 56, Yoil said that they inevitably hurt So-ae in a foreshadowing dialogue like the one Iruha got on her arc. Also, So-ae already kinda knows, she just needs to get the supernatural element out of the way to confirm it.

Iruha probably contacted yoil cause kim sanghyun is not contacing her, probably want to know what's da situation about him , kinda like
Iruha saw Yoil suddenly becoming feminine on social media and probably thought she got a boyfriend (like the producer did). Since Sanghyun set his profile to do not disturb after she messaged him, Yoil is the only one who can confirm her fears that they started dating.
