I'm on the camp of fellow readers who theorize that Laplace's whole legend of being evil was just that the Maxwell guy got rejected by her and out petty spite he sealed her up and spread misinformation across the ages to ruin her reputation.
I thought so at the start, but the few we saw of him did not make him seem like someone who would be into romance, so I don't think she rejected him.
But I do believe she may have hurt his pride something fierce some other way, and... same thing happened.

Also, it was her coin in the end, uh. Wonder what the story behind it is, now.

That last panel; requesting their party do a job, or requesting a job within their party? Just join up Katie, you'd be great for the dynamics.

Floofy tail go swish!

Looks like the manga for volume 2 of the LN won’t be a ‘1 to 1’ adaptation like the manga for volume 1. Curious to see what’ll be cut or adjusted.

Catherine sure is cute with her tsundere ways. Really hope she joins them on the request, she's quite fun.

''Dragon's bitch, problematic witch'', makes me think that Maxwell and Laplace had a rap battle instead of a magic duel...
Laplace: I CHALLENGE YOU TO A RAP DUELLLLLL

That’s a pretty fun scenario when you think about it and I kind of want to know now
This scenario belongs in epic rap battles of history (I love that YouTube channel it’s just good all around)

ALSO I SHIP NANDINE WITH KATHERINE

I know some pretty pertinent stuff regarding Lapace was revealed this chapter. Butwords cannot express how hot it is to see Katherine act the way she is now compared to before. She really ought to just join the party; there's always value in having a good cook on hand for mood and morale alone.

Thanks for the translation.

Not sure if that is a joke, but if you're going to quote anyone at least make it Churchill (even if it's not certain he said it).
There's probably a relevant line from Sun Tzu too.

Remember, kids, histories are written by the winner (or the authorities). This is also biased. So, calling Laplace evil is probably correct according to Maxwell, but wrong according to Tanya, because maybe Laplace beat Maxwell to a pulp that made him scared for life.

To answer your question, yes it's a joke. Also I use the specific quote from that specific character because the character also said that "history is filled with liars. All you need to change the world is one good lie and a river of blood."

In reality, the quote is fucking stupid no matter who said it. If the quote is true, then why the fuck do we still know about ancient civilizations from our history books? If those civilizations were fucking inferior, then why the fuck does our school wants us to learn about it? Why do we still learn about ancient Mesoamerican civilizations despite being lost to Spanish Conquistadors?

tl:dr I use a shitty quote from a video game as a joke.

Tbf quote is accurate to an extent. History isnt literally written by the victors, but the victors are those who feed their biases.
