the realization that takes other yuri manga 5 years, happened within a few days / pages here.
I’m fairly certain Howling Song (peak series btw) got there by the end of vol. 3, which I think would put it at about a year and a half past first chapter? Idk exactly
And then, in that same chapter, that happened. Won’t say what to avoid spoilers, and to avoid creating a text wall of context, but if you‘ve read Howling Song, you’ll know what I’m referring to. If you haven’t, go read it, it’s absolute fire

I know this is a trope(or rather shitty plot device) but I'm gonna be real: if you don't know if you're in love, you're not in love.

Because if you were in love you'd absolutely fucking notice that shit.

It's like wondering "hmm am I currently on crack? Or am I sober? I don't know" yeah you'd know

Eh not hugely... Love is complicated and can be more than just romantic at that. The big issue is people often conflate infatuation with love when they are different things. "The honeymoon phase" is pure infatuation which is where people tend to be the most passionate and most obviously "you'd know", but not everyone has that phase. Slow-burn is a thing for a reason since there is plenty of times irl ppl skip the infatuation or don't have it and simply develop a deep bond that makes them scared to lose the other which is usually where love is l. That is far harder to recognize

i know, i've been reading that since day 1.
still, thanks for the recommendation as it's a very good manga for sure.

Akebi-chan no Sailor fuku is another manga that took many years to get to the romance, but it feels genuinely natural.
and it's probably the best manga i've ever read in my entire life.

It's refreshing to read a romance where a character recognises their feelings early, after wading through so much slop that drags on for hundreds of chapters.
