The reason was because many male elves died during the war, and scarred veteran female soldiers became unwanted goods, yet they are still atractive for other races, and since the elf country has been very stingy with the veteran pay plus they realized that some elves married with humans and lived like kings/queens, they are basically gold diggers that want to marry a rich guy to live in opulence xD
