Remember that (so far as we know) the alter ego was the one doing that. The demons werent yet crushed when Tsutsuji died, Rei does have to atone but not because of her alter ego. We also need to know how the take over went, probably a deity or demon took advantage of her weakness.This idea of returning Rei to normal is so stupid. So Rei has no responsibility for her actions? Give me a break. Did MC forget everything he saw in Melia's memories? It's frustrating how easily some characters are willing to overlook serious issues just for the sake of redemption.

Looks like first appearance effect, to make it dramatic for the audience, but canāt put the same special effect every time.
His skill seems to be permanent, he keeps the skills he absorbed. Melia also never suggest him to re-absorb skills he already got so lets assume thereās no point in doing it except in special situation like this (completing the Oni God he got from Onizuka with Tsutsujiās original).

Maybe not so much a size thing as the fact hers (still) aren't getting attended to by our guy.
I don't think the idea of trying to revert Rei to it's original is stupid per se, but it depend on why Rei become this monster.
If it's "natural", albeit engineered, like dissociative personality disorder, it means that Rei retain part of the guilt of what happened in that time
If it's unnatural, like someone suggested that the despair was to allow a possession or the sort of her body, it's another thing. She would still be guilty to slaughtering the onis and to kill multiple demons, however not of what happenend while she was controlled.
In both case she isn't innocent, drunk on praise and blindly following orders, she needs to suffer and she needs despair after learning the crimes she did commit.
Alas both the Oni goddess and the elf priest aren't innocent, they had all the time to steer Rei in a right path, to inject into her a bit of "critical thinking".
