The manga made her way more insufferable overall too, in the WN she didn't make the elf mage explode, dude just quit after being called incompetent, so she didn't get arrested there, she then ran away since she couldn't meet the deadline for the queen's requests, then got captured for deceiving royalty, evading arrest and attempt murder (because of the bomb she made for the saint lol), and this is where she reflected and realized how bad she was to Lloyd and wanted to find him to apologize, she meet the assassin there and convince her to take her out, so she could find mc, though i don't think manga readers would be able to deal with the WN especially now that is in its last arc, given how they behave in the comments lol, so tbh is hard to see how the manga is going to go anymore, and looking at the raws for the next chapter is even harder and likely gonna piss off these people more lol

thats why im sad that looking at the direction of the manga, we wont be able to see the bad ass sword wielding ruby thats has redeemed herself and has her memory returning in time via time travel mumbo-jumbo, so she can apologize to mc and give push to the mc to have more confidence

sad this bad ass version of ruby end-up dead or got her character development reset due to the time loop nature that is only revealed in final arc of the WN (why do some author love this kind of plot-device tough)

And it seems the wn already hinted what happened later in the manga since the mc gloss over this timeline in the WN as one of the more enjoyable run for him

Not making excuses for her actions, but I agree that her attitude is actually making me pity her. She's still a massive c-word and needs to take accountability for her actions. But here's my current theory based off how she's acting + what I'm subtly picking up. I repeat, the following is fan based speculation and theory!!!

She was raised alongside Loyd in an orphanage, he was the only person in her life that was a constant and was a source of reassurance for her but once she realized he was actually really talented in magic she began to fear that he would become recognized and leave her. That fear became her drive to become a great alchemist so she could stay with Loyd, but her views got warped along the way. She started to push Loyd down so he wouldn't be noticed and leave her, but started to genuinely believe that she was superior to him and that he needed her and not the other way around. Basically, she gaslit herself into pushing away the one person she wanted to stay by her side no matter what and now she's delusional and doesn't know what's going on, but she knows that Loyd stayed with her while she berated him so she wants to back to what she had before he left.
