Sometimes I feel a little bit bad about the temp teacher/neighbor, as she is new to this and still learning, but then I remember when the MC asked when the theft happened, and she told him, then he said he couldn't have done it at that point in time, and then she invented a new timing. Like holy shit, at that point it was not a situation of her making a mistake and believing something that is not true, but it was like she wanted him to be the culprit. And it's not like she was in a stressful situation; they were just talking calmly, and she was like, "The theft happened at this point in time, but if you couldn't, then it happened at whatever point in time we can use to make you the culprit."
Edit: also, the situation feels worse every time I read it. We can go around saying that these kids are awful (which is kinda true), but holy shit, the teachers have like 95% of the blame in this, they started the bullshit, even after finding out he was innocent, they didn't clear his name, they literally hear the kids talking about beating the MC and then are surprise when they in-fact, beat the MC.
