Its not about proof, it's about Preconceived Opinion.
Once people have a a certain opinion about someone, they won't change unless someone else is used to divert the opinion.

Yeah, MC did provided proof for his innocence, but even if the other kids understood it all, that doesn't mean they would accept it, because some
  • wouldn't want to believe the proof even after accepting it, as they would think that if someone is doubted for some wrong doing, that means that person is bad to begin with, and even if they are not at fault for the current situation they might still be guilty for something else in the past or future, while
  • others don't want to change their opinion, and
  • there would be some afraid to accept the truth as that would make their own actions incriminating

Yeah, there might be some who might change their opinion and even apologize, but that number is usually quite few in such mass situation.
The reason why kids think that bullying Yukito is fine are the two points here:

1) "He deserves it because he is a thief. It's not bullying. We are the good guys who punish the thief."
2) The group effect. "Everybody does it, so it's ok for me to do it too."

By not clearly claiming that Yukito is innocent, the teachers let the kids think that Yukito deserves to be bullied not ony because he is a thief, but also because he threw their shoes in the water.
If there is a doubt about point 1), then he doesn't deserve it anymore. On the contrary, they become the villains who deserve to be punished, they deserved to have their shoes thrown into the pond. Not everybody will bury their heads in the sand like you explain. Some will react like this, but some will stop if they are given clear reasons that they were wrong and at least not doing more bullying for not making their actions worse.

And if some of the classmates stop getting involved, you break point 2). The bullies suddenly don't have the impression that what they are doing is right if they don't have a crowd cheering for them any more. And if there are even just a couple of classmates who stand up for Yukito, then the scenario is flipped and the perception of who is the good guy and who is the bad guy switches.

Again, my point is only that the situation would have been better if the teacher at least tried to clear Yukito's name the day before. The teacher herself aknowldged that she had, again, handled the situation poorly and made things worse.

Well, atleast i would say that the new teacher isn't completely at fault.
NAH fuck her too, she was literally present when the kids were discussing beating up the MC. The teacher was flabbergasted at finding out that the kids did what they LITERALLY SAY THEY WERE GOING TO DO is not an excuse.
And let's not forget when the MC proved his innocence and she literally started changing the timeline in real time because for some reason he HAS TO BE THE CULPRIT, and this was a peaceful, not stressful setting, so she has no excuse

In fact, when he started to fight back, even after seeing what he did to two of his assailants, that last guy actually LUNGED him and tried to inflict more violence. The threat was not finished, and onslaught of violence against him was being continued. He was fully justified 100% in the way he dealt with the boys.
this, but I would expand this to the girls. As you said, even after fighting back, the threat was not finished, why would we think it was after the boy ran away? why are we so sure that the girs wouldn't go back to egging others to beat him up as soon as he didn't appear to be threatening anymore?

bro I don't know the legal part of this but holy shit if someone is trying to steal from you while holding a weapon, killing them should be permitted unless you kill them AFTER they left and were clearly not a danger to you anymore. But at the same time, even if they left, after stealing from you, shouldn't you be able to protect your property

NAH, this is cuck shit. If someone does physical harm to you, they have escalated the situation from a peaceful one to a violent one, they are not at fault only for the harm caused but also for turning the situation into a shitty one. A measured response to someone punching your face is not to punch their face but to break their arm.
Heavily agreed on both points.

1) If you're using a weapon or pointing a weapon to threaten someone's life and try to leverage that fear of depriving an individual of an inalienable right into trying to steal property from them, the way I see it, your life is forfeit. You brought this upon yourself when you started acting like an animal that has no place in civilized society. Whatever happens to you after that is your problem, and your problem alone.

2) One of the most underrated, overlooked aspects of violence from bullies, and retaliating against them, is the prospect of further vengeful violence being committed upon the victim by the bully after the initial confrontation. The way I see it, the victim of the bullying has the right to inflict physical pain/fear great enough to dissuade further attacks or retailiation from the bully. Of course, this doesn't mean that you can kill them, but it does mean you can do what is roughly proportion to the scenario you described (bully punches your face, you break his arm to make him think twice about the consequences of acting like an animal in a civilized society, if he gets any bright ideas next time).

Morally its considered wrong to hurt others
BY WHO? not by me, I can tell you that. My morality is based on consequentialism, aggressors MUST be taught a lesson, hell, I would consider it to be immoral not to fight back, because you are just telling the aggressors they can get away with it, which means they will do the same again later

wasn't she literally cheering for him to get beaten even more? if she is not scared enough, she will ALWAYS be a threat to him, potentially egging others into beating him, she is literally calling for violence! that's literally illegal 😂
She looked already scared enough just when she saw him kick the asses of the other bullies LOL. How is she a threat to him? It's not like she's going to tell other boys "Go kick his ass!!!" after she has seen how violent he can be. She clearly look like she will never try to mess with him ever again.

the first kid the mc kicked looked scared and yet he tried to attack him again... how is she a threat to him? she was literally inciting violence against him (which is illegal btw), why do you think she wouldn't go back to it as soon as the mc didn't feel threatening anymore?
also, what is this "after she has seen how violent he can be" in other words, she loves picking on the weak who don't defend themselves? more reasons for the mc to demonstrate that he is not playing

What she did is wrong, but her actions are not as bad as the male kids who actually used violence
one thing is saying that her actions are "not as bad" but that doesn't mean she didn't deserve violence back. If you incide violence, you should be prepared to receive it, there's a reason why calling for violence is illegal

both of them where littreally stuned at the whole sight of what was happening that is a perfectly normal reaction to seeing something shocking like that. Calling them out for they actions before hand is alright but lets not pretend we can't see what's going on here.
the kids LITERALLY said they were going to do this, in front of the teachers, the previous day... they have no right to be stuned

Honestly he’s completely justified for doing what he did.

Back in middle school I was choked from behind, perps only got off with a suspension for the remaining two weeks of the school year.

And then two grades after that, I almost got suspended merely for blocking repeated punches to my face, since they had a zero-tolerance policy where if you simply defended yourself without attacking you were still considered an active participant.

It’s disgraceful how badly schools fail bullying victims.

And again, Yukito was about to assault her, which is also illegal btw.
But Yukito's plan was to let the bullies hit him, let the teachers see that, then beat their asses in self defense.
I've seen that you don't like that, but there is a limit to what is considered self defense.
If you break the limbs of someone who insulted you, it's a disproportionate reaction and it can't be called self defense.

Problem is, while they were stunned because of the whole situation (aka., not reacting to MC getting beat-up), the only situation they reacted to when MC tried to punish a girl for taking part. If they were really literally stunned, why did that Glass Teacher only react in that particular scenario? I mean, when MC fought back, he did it quickly to not give time for anyone to react quickly.
But the Glass Teacher was able to react to one particular scenario, meaning she could have reacted earlier, but didn't.
Just say you have never been in a situation that is shocking enough lol. Her reaction and action right after where very much normal i have seen and experienced a moment like that myself your whole body locks up trying to process the shock and can't even keep up with your mind. Which while lacking in the manga was ofc portrayed in the novel.

Again there is definitely somethings they can be faulted for leading to this but going all "how dare they" with them them being highly stunned by wtf happen is not it
