FMC's sister drugged and attempted to rape MC out of jealousy but FMC "caught them" in the act mid way. She promptly took her sisters side, didn't believe and shit on the MC for a good while until sister confessed under pressure. That's where most of his initial resentment suppose to be stems from. This info however dropped in the very last part of the novel and after that it just ends with something like "and lets be careful about your sister next time". THE END

You know...if the stuff we're missing is of this quality, then I'm totally fine with them rushing the ending and skipping all that. WTF? Sister? Rape? Undeserved mistrust from her to him? Yeah, no thanks. Where the hell was ANY OF THAT explained in the prologue? Honestly, they made it seem like their problem was more of a communication breakdown. From the way you describe it, it seems the author doesn't even try to tackle THAT problem with any kind of nuance at all anyway, and if it's something that gets dropped from out of nowhere in the story, you might as well drop it completely OUT of the story.

Woah what a shitty ending to a otherwise well executed idea most of the time, I thought they would have a come to Jesus moment and actually realize they have to talk things out, like the things wrong with their relationship and how to make it work, but it felt more like "You tried to protect me so you actually love me and deserve me and things will 100% be better this time, I don't need anything else let's just rush in again like the last time lol".
The problem with their past relationship was that the guy was overworking and they were spending no time together not that he wasn't "protecting her", the ending was rushed(which wouldn't have been bad if the ending was better) and the Characters are very one dimensional.
At page 27 of the chapter 10 she should have said something like "So you really do care huh....", "Looking back we didn't talk things out properly at all.", "You know I felt really lonely.", "You know how bad it is being stuck between 4 walls waiting for the only person you love to come home but them being constantly late and going to sleep immediately.", "There had to be a better way for you and for us than that job.".
