Birth control pills come in many types, the one you might be implying right now is probably minipills, which lower the chance of pregnancy by making the uterus become whatever and any fertilized egg will most likely can't attach to the uterus wall, also irrelevant, it make the wall of that ovarium tube (forgot the name, the two tubes that transport the women's egg to the uterus) bigger which result in the tube's hole being smaller and harder for sperm to get in
Once egg fertilized, birth control pill will mostly become useless.
