that was my assumption at first, but it turns out later that maria was best friends with the ancestor of house claudia. her attachment still exists and belongs now to her liege liam and the descendants of her dear friend.

Probably is, they gotta get stuff out on time. You'll see it in a lot of manga if you're looking close enough. Most of the mechs probably are, but the added shading and textures are by hand. It keeps the illusion of an actual drawing pretty well

Close. Maria’s clan were close allies and knights of House Claudia. Because of their strength, the observers used them to eliminate every other imperial rival to spare Claudia. They were petrified instead and House Claudia was basically enslaved.

It would've been really nice, if the story also delved deeper into the whole "magical" aspect of the setting.
It is heavily implied that the MC's magical capabilities, are also affecting his mech, somehow, but it was never really delved into.

It feels like a shame, since this manga really likes wuxia-esque scenes, where the MC stumps on villains with grand gestures; it's pretty much one of the primary focuses of the story. It makes sense to invest more into how "magical martial arts" work in that setting.

EDIT: actually, now that I think about it, if the author ever focused on that, they'd need to start retconning their own setting's premise: nobody puts any emphasis on Magic, and only relies on technology.
Making "magic" really OP and the "obvious choice to get into, if you're of a militant house", would make it seem really stupid, and had to explain, as to why nobody uses magic at all.
