This premise is wearing very thin. She has basically no reason to keep up the charade anymore, actually she barely had any in the first place. This would work way better if she was like a mischievous type who was teasing him, or had some shame about her deception that she was grappling with, but without either she just seems like kind of a sociopath who is lying for no reason besides getting to hear candid praise of herself.
