@aFFi I think the mom's shouting at MC was reasonable. While she wanted them to date each other, she didn't want them to have sex, especially after MC clearly said "We aren't dating", indicating that he's not being responsible about his relationship with Panji. And the situation that caught them in implied that they were going to have sex. The last thing a parent would want is to have their son fucking a girl without any sense of responsibility or consequence.

Neither do I understand the MC but I have seen similar cases. His friends easily betrayed him especially his childhood friend whom through him away for some unfulfilled love so I wouldn't want to have anything to do with them again but on the other hand it wasn't only his friends but everybody else as well. It doesn't look like he has any other friends left for me so maybe wants to go back to how things used to be rather than find new friends (remember close to everyone betrayed him). I've seen others with only a limited amount of friends hate each other after betraying each other but still be "friends" cause they otherwise would not have anybody else. However is this the case for the MC? I hope so otherwise he really is an idiot

The Eternal Zero is a hugely successful novel published in 2006, and Botchan and No Longer Human are considered classics of Japanese literature by Natsume Soseki and Osamu Dezai, respectively.
