Actually, fun fact, adultery can be tried in Japan.

While adultery in itself is not a crime, a victim of adultery can use adultery to seek a compensatory settlement (慰藉料) for offense to their honor/psychological damages. It's usually granted, too, provided you can prove it.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I am saying that she has yet to afford him enough space in her heart such that she'd even accidentally allow him to help her. She's still presenting as functional, and has only just expressed to him some of her abusive childhood and inexcusably unsafe attitudes regarding sex. At least up until now, a more functional person wouldn't be likely to do more than take her at face value without proactively trying to play therapist. How does one even help this?
