So far, everyone's been fixated on this happening at all. I personally struggle to empathize with the strength of the reactions to this, especially when this was telegraphed in the previous installment.

That said, I think everyone's missing something crucial: this is happening to Hanabi because she's trying to be a better person. The blackmail material at hand, as far as either her or Kirigaya are concerned, doesn't have anything to do with her, but with some other third party she's spent most of this manga feeling slighted by.
