Author really wrote the most unlikable person, huh? Even if they do genuinely like MC, lol. If you’re tryna make them dependent on you or whatever, this is NOT the way to do it. Not that you should ever do that, but yeah… Lol.

Honestly deserved. Justified emotional damage dealt. One might argue it isn’t enough, but our MC obviously isn’t the type to dish that out themselves since they want nothing to do with them anymore. They’re as good as strangers for all he cares now.
Guessing she’s like that even when she was a child because of both her parents, possible misinterpretations of their words of advice, an inherently bad personality (or the potential to have one), and just falling so hard that they’re too far gone to actually change from that point onwards since no one called them out on their BS for all those years.

Honestly impressive regardless, since a lot of people can’t move on completely right away like he did when he blocked her.
Like physical is a combination of both, but basically distributed in a way where they both steadily and slowly increase, whereas the pure mental abuse is solely focused on said area, making it increase astronomically in a way where it can actually be debilitating. I think that’s what you’re getting at, anyways. But in general, the combination is often worse in real-world scenarios, yeah.
A redemption arc would’ve been okay, depending on how they approached it, but getting back together? I feel that defeats the premise of the story. Maybe some melancholic reunion where he wishes her to find happiness elsewhere since he’d already moved on. That would’ve been cool to see, maybe.

But yeah, by the way you’re describing things, I can see how it’d be odd how he just doesn’t acknowledge his past and/or it isn’t even mentioned often.
