inhales through teeth

So chapter 9 of LN vol 2 is seemingly titled NTR, so take it as you will. As far as I know, the story is not going in the "happy ever after" direction, and MC's life will keep being messy. I'm not sure I'm in for that ride.

In my experience, continuations of those romances based on certain premises are rarely all that good (My Girlfriend Cheated on Me With a Senior, so I’m Cheating on Her With His Girlfriend, to a lesser extent The Gal Who Was Meant to Confess to Me as a Game Punishment Has Apparently Fallen in Love with Me), but who knows.

People keep saying about hanabi’s redemption arc but realistically if it does happen it’s gonna be because she’s stopping her sister from messing with the mc. There’s no way her sister is gonna be good and help her deal with improving herself after coming to terms with all the wrong she’s done else then there’s no plot with the mc.
Overall the mc isn’t actually as central to the story as Hanabi is playing a much more active role in the story compared to the mc who is more reactive. The story probably should have ended with chapter 30

The only worry here is if older sister pushes her down the bad path. I don't mind self-reflection, I don't mind redemption, but I do mind forced back-tracking of character growth. Intentional or not, I would not enjoy seeing more twisting are darkening of a character trying to be better.

Opening the chapter with full self-reflect on all the shit Hanabi did to Ichinose was surprisingly good, all the misdeeds she made shouldn't be forgiven unless she would take a really long, LONG route to make up all the issues she made but given the severity of her abusing people around, it wouldn't be never enough unless she would suddenly change to a literal angel, which is hardly possible.

What was cut from manga is Hanabi sending letters to Ichinose and Yukishiro with simple "I'm sorry." during her recovery in the hospital after breaking the leg, not forgiving her, but that was kinda a good step.

I'm surprised Hanabi told about everything to her mother and she didn't taken more care about her, instead sent her daughter to help. Mother of the year folks!

I have a feeling that Hanabi sister Izumi is far worse than her, despite her overall charm and happy exterior, instead trying to help Hanabi grow out of her terrible personality, will pour gasoline into the fire... after all, the story would pretty much end in few chapters since it's more about Ichinose and Yukishiro and her redemption arc would cover at least 10 years of suffering she inflicted.

Anyone has actual spoilers from the LN and not some vague shit?
Well, someone posted that The big sister is part of the Yakuza and forces Hanabi into prostitution which sounds ridiculous but when the story is crazy enough as it is, I dunno.

Wait... the story is continuing?!? I thought it ended last chapter with him finally being free and him getting the girl!!! The fuck
The WN did end at the last chapter. Dunno about the published LN. It says there's 2 volumes of LN so ig this is maybe the 2nd volume or maybe just a manga original? Someone should look it up ig

Yeah that's what i meant by vague shit. It just looks like a throw away sentence with no context.

This is incredibly unrealistic Most, if not all narcissists will never self reflect or even think of themselves as trash.

She suffered?
I mean yeah, she had to come to grips with the fact the boy she liked no longer loves her and it’s entirely her fault AND he moved on to a girl who genuinely cares about him which she never could, she broke a leg, and she got expelled/suspended. Her entire life and self-image have been completely destroyed, she’s been broken mentally, socially and physically, she’s finally in a place where I feel narratively she can start to improve herself so yeah, if she puts in the effort I think she deserves at least some form of redemption.

When a character is a bitch I don’t mind hating them, but if a character WAS a bitch and genuinely goes through the wringer and comes out the other side a better person than I’ll root for them. Everyone is capable of great harm and evil, but everyone is also capable of genuine change, at least that’s what I chose to selfishly believe.

That sounds like another novel I have seen before, but rather than the sister, it was the girlfriend.

Ngl Hanabi looks much better in the novel than she does in the manga. It never made sense to me how that orange bitch had so many guys following her orders.

I had no idea this was continuing and I’m so happy to spend time with broken-legged, crashed-out Hanabi. Bring on the suffering!

I'm now gonna be the umpteenth person asking for spoilers on later events from the LN - detailed ones, not a weird, non-conclusive statement that can be easily applied to some different manga (adaptation), the whole shebang here so I know whether or not to dive in.

A redemption arc can be good, BUT it has to be done correctly. She can't be forgiven, but she can move on and be a better person. Hopefully the author does it well.
Honestly I think her sister's going to fuck it up. Do a you were always the correct one. He's wrong

Extremely interested in this redemption arc based on how well the author wrote the MC. I was a huge fan of how he grew a spine and never really wavered in his commitment to break ties with Hababi. I'd like to see how the author approaches redeeming an abuser.
