She just abandoned her daughter just so she doesn't feel the pain of her daughter's death...

Why would you have a kid when you are clearly not enough responsible enough to play the part of the parent?

This chapter makes me realize how much better the doctor character is than Aqua. He needs to reminisce a bit and re-emphasize his original personality into Aqua.
Yup. That's why Oshi no ko is a tragedy. He was given a chance to live a happy life alongside the girl who was basically a daughter to him, but his need for revenge is going to throw it all away.

So mommy probably did love her child... but she couldn't bear to see her suffer and abandoned her.... so it wasn't a lack of love, it was a lack of courage....

Farfetched prediction time: crow girl is Ai.

Not technically reincarnated, but still around. Just seems like the most obvious plot twist.
Uhh.. No?
That girl told aqua, specifically saying that Ai is nowhere to be found 'smile' again and doesnt have chance to reincarnate or something like that. When you put into consideration that Ai is 'unbelievable' in many cases that she could be a god, but so does Aqua's father, and i refuse to calling that god.

I guess its some kind of god, but what god i wonder. I dont think in earlier chapter theres a mention of certain god other than entertainment (which is unlikely but whatever), but iirc somebody mentioned about many gods in that town when new b-komachi shooting mv.

Aka-sensei... I swear if you run away from this plot-point to reveal the past.

If it were to be revealed, then just like someone mentioned above, Aqua is likely to be more sacrificial to her sister.

So, the scenario here is that Aqua knows that Ruby was Sarina. But Ruby doesn't know that Aqua was her doctor. In Ruby's case, it's okay to be revealed later on, I think.

"And they're all living quite happily ever after. The end." Nice way to conclude that flashback and drive the point home.

There are far too many people in the world who think that if they're suffering, they have the right do whatever they think they need to alleviate it... even if that results in inflicting far more suffering on others. Unfortunately, empathy isn't an important trait for people in modern society... if you lack it, your life won't necessarily change much. Society spreads the convenient wisdom that if you're unhappy your number one priority is to achieve the happiness you deserve, and that the greatest good is achieving by everything trying to maximize their own happiness. And so, Sarina died without the presence of her mother to comfort her and help alleviate her fear.

In response to other commenters' speculations.. I don't think Aqua figured it out. Otherwise his face would be very different.

Yup. That's why Oshi no ko is a tragedy. He was given a chance to live a happy life alongside the girl who was basically a daughter to him, but his need for revenge is going to throw it all away.
This would normally be good conventional wisdom, but after seeing that guy continue to commit murders, it's clear the moral of the story won't be "you should have forgiven and forgotten, Aqua". At most, it'll be "your trauma resulted in too much tunnel vision, you should've bonded with Ruby more while you had the chance" if there's some kind of tragic twist where they're separated by death or jail. Though I'd still rather there was no tragic twist at all, Aqua and Ruby team up to send their dad to the slammer or maybe just secretly murder him, and they realize each other's identities and live happily ever after in the entertainment industry.

Even if Aqua learns that Ruby is Sarina, I doubt that would have much change in his plans…maybe it’ll make him even more self-sacrificial towards his sister.
He was already quite the siscon towards Ruby given how he protected her like a hawk by shooting down all of her idol auditions and then chose to go to the same school as she did to make it easier to keep tabs on her. The moment he connects the dots and realizes Sarina is Ruby could probably awaken a next level kind of shit list that would bring suffering to Sarina's old family assuming Sarina is okay with that.
