Ai's fucking dead, woman. He (subconsciously) considered her like the daughter he never had and believed her to be his only hope to achieve his dream. There's no way he could just let the killer get away with it. So, he gave you- No. He gifted you his own company and its resources so you could keep on going following your dream while distancing himself so none of you would get dragged into it.

Unpopular opinion: Miyako's achievements as a "mother" are overrated.

This. He literally gifted her secretary a whole fucking company and people are acting like she's some sort of victim. It was Miyako who volunteered to adopt the twins, not what his name. She was even plotting to leave him for someone younger and wealthier and almost ruined him with her plot to sell the info of the twins to a gossip magazine lol imagine thinking she's got the losing end for getting a free company and all his assets. She could have easily given the twins up for adoption if she decided to, no one forced her to keep them after he left her. Maybe Miyako is a good mom, but she was a lousy wife. So what are people demonizing him for, that he didn't sign some papers to officialize a divorce after his pseudo-daughter was brutally murdered? Fucking hilarious.

And people treat her like she is some sort of superhero, as in:
"She's not the stepmom, she's the mom that STEPPED UP".

Ichigo left his shallow, air headed, treacherous, former escort, conspiring wife all his assets without contesting any of it, became an emotional wreck so traumatized he's spent the last 10 years in a drunken stupor over ai's death, yearning for revenge and booze, unable to hold a job, a wreck of a man who's still obsessed with finding her killer. And everyone here is "oh show that pos what he deserves Miyako!!!" after she got a free payday. Did she adopt the kids? Sure. That's called making decisions and living with the consequences. No one ever said it'd be a walk in the park, but no one forced her hand either. People sure like to hold "b b b b-ut he didn't firm a divorce! he just left!", against a highly traumatized wreck of a man.

Allow me to introduce you to the storytelling mechanic "Dramatic Irony"
We, the readers, know the motivations and full depth of Ichigo's actions, Miyako, a character in-universe who hasn't seen him since he left the company and her, doesn't.

To recap: All she knows is that Ai's death broke him and he vanished, leaving her to keep the company afloat.
I suggest you pause and think about how you would feel if you had the information she does at this point before jumping to defend Ichigo or bash Miyako.

It's not actually shown, but I like to think that he at least spent the last decade trying to find out who the killer was; though he was seemingly useless in that somehow. Makes me wonder, how a producer (Kaburagi) that temporarily worked with AI apparently knew her better than Ichigo, who spent around 8 years close to her in one way or another.
Enough so that Ichigo couldn't tell the seemingly obvious signs of her being interested in a guy, and deduce when and where it happened.

I'm not necessarily defending or bashing any of the characters. There are things we don't know about the thoughts and actions of the characters, and things that the characters themselves don't know about each other. We can't really see the whole picture until the story is actually over, I believe.

I'm just saying that the impression the majority of readers seem to have about Miyako is just plain absurd. That's all.
