It's reassuring to see that everyone else overwhelmingly hated the ending, too. Sometimes I think that people's expectations are just sky-high and will lower when the dust fades, but both romantically and thematically the ending was idiotically reductionist. I, too, wrote a mini-essay on Reddit back in the day...

I've read plenty of manga with mediocre endings where I'll calm down after a while and give the writer another chance on their next work, but this is one case where I absolutely won't.

Also, screw MangaPlus; after "that chapter" in the movie arc, their comment mods

Fuck them for trying to enforce their morality in a fan comment section that overwhelmingly was enjoying the twist at the time.

Yeah. Sometimes you're genuinely surprised by how fiercely people defend highly controversial issues, and when, even despite the existence of some defenders, you see such failures rightfully criticized, it's relieving.

Oh boy, sure hope the author doesn't use this Manga to unload the frustration of a failed marriage to create a typical harem where nobody wins except the merch companies and twists are created to shock rather than build upon the story and it all comes crashing down like a VN bad ending.
