How to make Aqua putty in your hands? Act as Ai. Akane had him wrapped around her little finger.
And the way the girls teased him was so cute to watch. Their reactions were pretty fun.
Of course if any relationship did ever form, it would be built upon a lie. Aqua's too focused on Ai that he doesn't even understand how to classify his feelings towards her after all that has gone down. Was he attached to the Ai Akane presented? Was he just following her whims because he admires that Ai character? Was he getting embarrassed because he loved Ai as his mother and has these thoughts driven back to the surface? He likely has no clue since he never faced a lot of those feelings, and then when she died he went into full revenge mode as his method of grieving.

Also there is a rival in Kana. Aqua may not be looking for love right now but any potential future rivals have a strong one in her.
