School is a microcosm of the real world of adults. That's also how it is in the outside world.
Girls can be absolutely vicious when it comes to gossip, so those "anonymous" messages check out. I'm pretty sure the rumors are starting to get under Marika's skin even though she doesn't let it show on her face. But it shows in her behavior because she's extra crabby than usual. It was going to ruin her appetite so Shouma took her phone away. He's just putting in the effort to live up to the boyfriend role and I appreciate the hustle.
But I just love how Marika doesn't take shit from anybody, she really answered those gossip girls passing by just to set the record straight. It's just so refreshing to me to see Japanese characters be this outspoken and not the typically sheepish, beat-around-the-bush mince-all-my-words overly polite "I'll just keep it to myself" mentality in most manga I read.

I didn't like Marika in the beginning. But I have really enjoyed the last couple chapters with Hachiouji and her. It's much better than the stupid idol/oshi worship arc.
I don't mind yuri; what I didn't like about her is how forceful she was about making Sawa the prince (I also hate Oota and the other fans for the same reason). So, I like that she let Sawa be free by approaching Hachiouji.
Also, I'm sure she had viewed him positively if we look at the chapter where he confessed. So, it's not like she was trying to date someone she didn't like. More like she chose the 2nd person she favored. And based on the doujin, it seems like her interest in him going to grow even more.
I picked up this manga because I like the artist's other works so much. In fact, I like Marika's appearance so much. But the oshi plot really turned me off. But now I'm enjoying this more.
Btw, this arc kinda reminded me of the lesbian girl and the persistent bf from Nijiiro Days.
