Hachiouji has some terrible taste in women. He has plenty of better girls to pick from.
Incels be incels
What do you mean, "acknowledge their yuri love" only one of them actually has/had romantic interest towards the other, Sawa doesnt have any interest in her whatsoever and doesn't even realise that she likes her at all, the other girl is well aware that she likes/liked Sawa and is almost already over her, there is nothing more to it.Eh. Too much arc time on the secondary cast.
It would have been better for one or both FMCs to acknowledge their Yuri love openly. Tbh, I feel this is the way this series will end anyway. I can't see Oshibana ending up with the Otaku, it's just too forced no matter how the plot gets manipulated. Better to end this in typical annoying Manga fashion with the classic "reader gets to decide what the actual nebulous ending means."
I saw it more akin to taking the bottle away from a drunkard.Hachiouji takes Marika's phone, ignoring her expressly-stated desires, then lectures her when she's vocally annoyed.
Sawa: "You two make such a cute couple!! <3"
This manga is going to be the death of me I swear to god.
My point is that he's acting like her fucking parent, not a partner. I confess I also legitimately despise Sawa as a character at this point since she's basically been doing nothing but prioritizing and defending men for the past like 6 chapters straight lol. Maybe I'm the drunkard who needs someone to take the bottle (i.e. this manga) away from me <_<I saw it more akin to taking the bottle away from a drunkard.
Browsing the site was clearly taking a toll on her mind, yet she insisted on toughing it out and keep reading the hate out of weird sense of spite (it takes a special kind of twisted mind to be able to take the hate head on without it affecting you), so he simply took it upon himself to be the bad guy and took the phone away so she would stop being silly and stop harming herself.
It's all about being able to differentiate the "I'm fine" from the "I'm fine".
"Fucking parent"... now that's an interesting choice of words once you know the full truth about their relationship. Besides, the sad truth is that sometimes you have to act like a parent with your partner, family member or even close friend when they're acting up in a way that damages themselves yet refuse to do anything about it.My point is that he's acting like her fucking parent, not a partner. Probably reaching a bit here, but perhaps it's the fairly inexpressive art style itself that's (at least partly) the reason??I enjoy this one, but it does "feel" odd. I don't know if it's the intent or style, or that I'm unconsciously reading it as somewhat emotionless, in portrayal at least. The thematic breakdown, objectively, isn't particularly strange, but there's definitely an element that make it feel off. Situations and elements that might "feel" exceedingly tense or dramatic in another manga, simply don't here, though the content is near identical. It's not bad, imo, but it is curious. Even the natural growth showcased feels smooth and even. Maybe that's it... It doesn't feel like it has highs and lows for the most part, it just kind of glides along.
As always, thank you for scanlating.
That's probably apt. It doesn't have too many of the exaggerated expressions, "movements" or "effects" that you see in many manga with the same and similar themes. I think even the language choices play a role, looking at the raws (and my written Japanese is far from perfect yet, which I take into account) some of the word usage is interesting, though the translation IS excellent from my perspective. Calm is an adjective I would apply to this work's feel. I guess the impressive part to me is that it doesn't necessarily take away from the inherent tension, almost makes it more subtle.Probably reaching a bit here, but perhaps it's the fairly inexpressive art style itself that's (at least partly) the reason??
