What do you mean "what can they really do about it?"? Haven't you ever had your parents talk to you about unhealthy mentalities? Just about every child gets them, whether it's from becoming overly competitive about banal shit, or too self conscious when comparing themselves to others. Didn't they tell you that whatever shortcomings you're worried about don't really matter at your age and you'll make your own way with time? That's the least they should have done for him, it's still just passive parenting. An active parent takes it upon himself to actually help the child power through whatever problems they have - assist with academics, arrange extracurricular activities (to either help them improve or even just let them figure out it's not what they want to do), or even professional psychological help (it's not a big deal).Comments are oddly taking aim at his parents. From all of their appearances so far they've been equally supportive of BOTH of their children. His issue is self esteem due to girls using him and Youta comparing himself to his brother. Not school grades, lack of friends, or being bullied. From what we know his family love and support him. What can they really can they do about it? Tell the brother to make himself less attractive, less athletic especially when it appears he hasn't confided in his family.
So im gonna say you're doing a lot of inferring here. Nowhere in the 10 chapters currently is it implicitly or explicitly ever stated his parents know about his feelings or make him feel less than. In the flashback Ch.9 his parents console him after a loss to his brother. They don't tell him to be more like him just if he tries harder he might beat him. From the one scene we got at his home he seems fine with his brother. Youta has an inferiority complex brought on by his peers not his parents. His family from all appearances love and support him, his brother is happy to compete against him. What do you mean "what can they really do about it?"? So are you, since there's nothing that points to them doing anything other than telling him "you can beat him if you try". This message is not the right thing to say in such a situation anyway. Also, no he isn't fine. If he was he wouldn't have this instinctual need to avoid any situation that might have others compare him to his brother, like that whole relay race. It's almost at trauma level, in fact and a sign of very poor parenting. It does not matter who's fault it is, it's the parent's responsibility to take serious steps to remedy it, which they are not doing. So im gonna say you're doing a lot of inferring here. I mean he rlly only won when they were younger cuz the age gap was "larger" between them. Like when ur younger a year or two is a much longer difference in development than around the end of high school right after most of puberty growth endsThere's a chance you would actually lose??? Sounds cap
IKR !? I mean, they basically told him :
"Hey, Second Child ! We actually wanted to go cheer Rei, our Pride and Joy, first but his fans were so numerous, we couldn't even approach him, so, instead, we came see you because we know nobody care or even expect anything from you ! Seriously, your lack of bitches is kinda making it embarassing for Rei, our Pride and Joy, to be related to you !"
Like, WTF !? Was twisting the knife in the wound really necessary !?
And they even double down with Izumi, basically telling her :
"Sorry you have to force yourself to hang out with our socially challenged Second Child that is not Rei, our Pride and Joy ! For some reasons that are definitely not related to living in the shadow of his super-popular brother Rei, our Pride and Joy, who has dozens of women drooling over him, he never seem to get along with his female classmates. Honestly, we kinda gave up on him giving us any grandchildren and usually just tell people he's adopted or/and gay : it's easier to justify the complete gap of success between him and Rei, our Pride and Joy !"
So, yes, I'm calling BS on them being even aware on how Youta is suffering from being constantly compared to Rei.
I wasn't entirely sure about this at first, but it is absolutely proving itself through 10 chapters.how the fuck did this manga get so peak?
