Yeah... that's not the first time someone has said something like that, and it's a bit odd. Okay, so she has good grades. But she's been show to be actually bad at various other things. Like, she's legit not good at sports (but she either thinks she is or is proud of herself for trying, the latter of which I guess isn't the worst thing?).

Yeah, those aren't confirmed hers. None of the ones we see have names on them, and Youta just assumes they're Houjou's, but there's zero confirmation on that.

That aside .... weird that a couple trophies from who-knows-when suddenly equals "marysue", but perhaps standards are different where you're from.

Ok...I just read the raw, there is no reference to 'we'. It is true that the same sentence could imply oneself, but with the context is clear that the dude is referring to HER family, so I think the translation is not 100% correct here.

Saw the same thing corroborated on Reddit - the pronoun use/lack thereof indicates Tohno was effectively expressing that he hopes that Houjou can go on another trip with her family someday [as she used to, and misses doing so].

And it was probably vague/indirect enough, that Houjou responds that she and Tohno would be the ones going in that context, to which Tohno reacts with surprise.

Plus, that's the only interpretation/translation that really makes sense with their expressions and reactions (or lack thereof) to what the other one says in that scene, especially with what we know of both characters at this point in time.

My guess is on either "her parents passed away and now she lives with her older brother", OR it's a fake out and her parents are actually just overseas for work or something

Her mother was mentioned in chapter 2. I believe she didn't die in the present timeline. If someone did die, it might have been her father, since I don't remember him being mentioned, but I could be wrong.

But I think nobody died, and they just don't travel together anymore because their parents work long hours and don't have time for it. But if someone did die, it could be her father... but I don't know, I don't think anyone died.

Looks like it's been updated. Only problem now is, if he's referring to her going on trips with her family, it makes no sense that she assumes he'll be going on those trips with her...
