Is this the correct translation, this line felt very out of left field by just following their conversation. It needed the correct build up to it, and it doesn't seem like they managed that.

I never had that problem, even though I'm the youngest, but it isn't uncommon to see people whose family relationships were seriously damaged because of it.

One thing that stands out is the attitude of the MC's parents; they actually seem pretty supportive. One of the most damaging parts of this kind of situation is when the parents are the ones constantly making the comparison and being toxic about it. That feeling of "My parents gave up on me for my perfect siblings" is a disaster for any teenager.

The bigger the shackle the stronger you'll be when you break them. It's mostly deep ego wounds and some do break free while others just can't, it just seems to be that way.

Really makes the story better that Rei is chill. I'm still curious if he noticed or how he would react learning that girls constantly try to use him.

Tohno's inferiority complex is so deep seated, he doesn't even see that talking about it with his brother might help a lot. Rei can't help to be good at anything but he could for example pass the word that he will never talk again to any girl disrespect his little brother. And he'll also be more mindful if he understands when Tohno might get triggered.

This is a romcom so that's the way, but boys and men truly have the bad habit on letting their mental issues fester until a girl is in the picture. Better to do the work before and for yourself.
