So we found the source of the shadows and I suppose once she realised the truth, all the shadows got released.
And the reason for it all, one sided friendship/crush and the other party forgetting about them after getting separated.

Really does hilight the power of the Japanese ghost. Even before she faded into a shadow creature, she killed at least 36 people and wasn't even aware of it. What is this, Forbidden Planet?

In the previous installment (chapter 2), Akari was craving for mass attention that came at a terrible cost.
Now she has more (negative) attention than anyone would want, while her forgotten childhood friend is the only one wanting serious attention between them, but cannot have it. Very sad.

maybe b/c i moved away when i was a teen but i can't imagine knowing someone from elementary school today (tho i guess with gen z it's easier for them to keep up with social media but i can imagine ppl meeting some ppl ten years later and ppl either being exactly the same or super diff)
