I’m still wondering about how they handled the “other” end without making a mess. 1 and 2.

But I guess diapers were a thing.

In the before times they used bed pans and just cleaned up any spillage. Diet played a large role as well as they could adjust it so there were no solid BMs, and mostly a liquid output. They still needed to change bedding rather frequently though.

Nowadays if they are long term coma patients they just use tube's called catheters and bag it. Easy to change, less mess, and simple to maintain.
