I have not read the LN only the Web Novel. It doesn't happen there, the only drama they have is with the other members of his family, is pretty much a smooth ride after the confession, the author glosses over but after the three way confession is a constant threesome (and foursome).

I like the additions the Manga did but I don't understand why the author is stalling the romance right now.

Dude almost nailed it but screwed up the landing by not just being honest at the end.

Him saving them is one of the things they admired about him. Even his ex called it one of his good points. Plus them being clear about not having any intentions of trying to get back together was as it should be. If he'd just told the truth instead of hurting em by not admitting what happened it would've been a 10/10 execution.

Oh well. Guess some genre conventions can't be escaped after all. Unfortunately.
