....right.... Cause from where I'm standing, "2 beautiful girls throw themselves at the loser protag" is the furthest thing from "rich" that they could possibly write.

Both sisters have different but basically equally terrible ideas of how to express love (so does their mom). MC doesn't even understand the concept beyond a grade-school level. The long game here is showing how all these different notions interact and create new understandings. For good and for ill. Having a character with a bad idea demonstrate that bad idea isn't exactly bad writing, even if it's not to some folks' tastes.

I don't mean "loser" in the context of how the story plays out once he starts interacting with the girls (ie him jumping in to save them). I mean that these stories are always the same. The protagonist is some social nobody of no consequence how has a couple of equally socially disregarded friends if he has any at all. He's the type who goes to school and nobody notices them and nobody outside his circle is even on basically civil terms with and there's nothing remarkable or interesting about him because he's as bland and vanilla and unimportant as can be except that he's a generically nice guy in an unremarkable and non-threatening way. And usually he'll also be incredibly self-depricating, talking about how nobody would notice someone like him and he and the girls he does interact with belong in different worlds, and blah blah blah. It's just so cliche at this point that I expect that to be how things play until we get shown otherwise.

Maybe this story will prove that wrong, but so far we've seen that he has a couple of friends, that collectively they aren't popular with girls at all as they're planning a party that would seemingly have nobody else attending and they don't believe they could successfully invite girls, and his friends' character designs are a bit on the goofy side that would usually mark them as being social outcasts or nobodies.

Besides, my comment was mostly about the presumptuousness of the story description calling this a "rich" romantic comedy when really it looks like just as much of a collection of standard seinen tropes and cliches as anything else.

Sure? It's still not well-written though, just interesting conceptually. The boob-groping scene basically cemented that in my mind.
