not really. There are many things you can do to help in the kitchen, but it needs patience for the person in charge to explain what to do, and many people doesn't have that patience.
Two people in the kitchen is good so one can prep the ingredients while the other does the actual cooking, three is doable if they work well together, four starts getting cumbersome for the size of the average home kitchen.

If I'm cooking, odds are there's a dog underfoot already. Another person helping just increases the odds someone trips over it. The gains really have to outweigh the risks.
