I think theres enough of each archetype if you look around enough. The revenge hero trope almost always has the mc curbstomping their former opressors in some way (mugen gacha, redo healer, even shield hero to some extent). It's just that stories where the revenge is justifiable proportional to their misery are very few. Only one I can think of is Raul, and now this side story.

I do think with mugen gacha, it gets a bit repetitive when every single party member turned out to be a complete scumbag
would be interesting if at least one of them turned out to be good

It is one of the girls that vibe well with mc, due to how broken they are. Like other reply said, their current interactions were just some dungeon-delving. But even then they are also one of the few people mc has an important promise she treasures, with (the other being the princess). Specifically that one day she would kill karla.

This is why some of us root for "villains" more than "heroes"
Context and back story are all it takes.

I mean, even without the backstory, we still rooted for her because she was clearly just some broken young girl.
Sure, there is an age-limit for when being a homicidal broken girl stops being a good thing - but as yuno gasai shows, that limit is far into the future for karla, and likely somewhere in adult age.

Her father treat her as a failure because after being "upgraded" from being a failure, she's still don't have a good enough capacity. But she is just too good at studying. So after reading a bunch in the library to be better, she found out that her efficiency is a LOT better than others.

Yikes. That family deserved all that came to them. I like that her thoughts show us that she knows she's now insane but still with it enough to want to die and end her own suffering. Once everyone who caused said suffering is dealt with, of course.

Cause of her extremely reduced lifespan and infertility.
Also they didn't predict that she could reach that level. Even with her multi affinity they believed she could manage only the most simple spells.
