Marie was a massive spoiled brat to Leon but in her mind Leon was his big brother that was always there for her. Perhaps in a perverse and childish manner but she did love him as family and was pretty much dependent on him. After he dies she gets blamed by her family and disowned. Later she marries and lives with an alcoholic, gambling addict partner that beats her frequently. Her last memory before reincarnating was getting "a really bad beating" so it is assumed her partner killed her. In any case, she got long ago what she deserved for being bitchy to Leon and she's a hardworking person with really bad luck that refuses to gamble because of previous traumas.

Also, there's a spin-off side story where

Leon pairs up with marie instead of livia and they develop a crush on each other since they resemble their lost sibling respectively. It's reaaaaally weird but at least it sheds light on how their relationship as siblings was a bit healthier than the novel wants you to think at the start.

That's super sad, really. To be honest, I never really pegged her as a bad sister per say. Selfish definitely, but some sibling relationships are just like that. I feel like if I'd gone through such a bitter life and reincarnated, I'd be damn sure to do whatever I could to be on top. It's just a shame all the dudes she managed to draw in are such tools.

I legit wanna read that side-story. I can just imagine the way Leon would act throughout it all.

yeah, her story is super sad in both lives.
Honestly I think Leon spoiled her too much back in their previous life, which is why she turned out so twisted, but her life after he died really made her grow, she honestly becomes one of the best characters in the series with the most development.

@guysaresohot44 Leon filled in for Jilk, so he was technically racing for Jilk to get the money, but since Jilk would give it to, (what was her name again?) um that girl, he just gave it to her. Besides, he bet on him with odds that were probably at least 200:1 so he already made a massive fucking killing off of winning the race, so that small stack of bills was chump change in comparison.

For other parts of the story, yes. But for Clarice, so far her background matches the WN more than the LN. Either way, both WN and LN will have MC ending with a harem. If anything there might be even additional members to harem and it is highly likely this slut will be part of it. Hopefully she is the only damaged one in the harem and the rest remain pure (excluding the busty MILF queen of course)
