@Arin-san From the start, he is aware that it is based on a game and that there is a story to be told. She plays a major role in that story and it seems like she must be related to the princes due to her title as well as the plot.
MC is trying to be a mob character. Getting involved with her would make him the MC instead of the princes. It is pretty understandable in my opinion.

He wants a normal life far from the despicable women of this world: Doesn't want any promotion, wish to get kicked from the school and is trying to be a mob character.
As for treating the girls (and every other character for that matter) like NPC, he thoroughly played this game. He knows more about them than they do. Obviously, it is a "Game" for him and he is trying to keep it on tracks.

@exxp oh cool. Anyone reading should be aware that I think it was volumes 3-5 are absolute garbage because the translator was an ESL so expect to stop every couple lines and reread things.

and the very fact that he know almost every part of the game since he manage to beat it with 100% savefile
to the point he aware of the outcome if he mess up the plot

He is also aware that it real world for him now... but that doesn't change the fact that
the world ending threat is roaming around like a tickling time bomb

remember how he rant regards the 5 idiots? and how they made him game over and over again?
this is part of the reason why he understand that the threat is real deal...
the 5 idiots isn't weak by all mean... just have major flaw

basically part of his concious is "afraid" that... the whole kingdom will burn and his peaceful life plan will gone along with the kingdom
he can ignore the event or the game plot itself if it not world threatening enough
but the game itself despite bring otomegame just shove middle finger on the player

@melbisbelbis his aim is to live happily, and that mean he want to live in a world that is not destroyed by the threat of the game

he is not the only one to have been transmigrated (don't know if thats a word) but the other girl was not aware of the fact that only the mc of the otome is able to beat the threat that will come against the kingdom (shes a descendant of special blood...yada yada), and bcs of that he will need to clean up behing her mess to avoid everyone dying

also the author of the novel made extra chapter from the point of view of "what would have happened if leon didn't clean that mess" and it was pretty dark...but thats another matter

i read the ln and this is one of those stories that goes to shit

the romance doesn't really develop one goddamn bit after the "big event"

where he gets engaged with olivia and angie...and then promptly stops interacting with them at all. funny thing is the two girls kiss each other before leon, and leon himself just becomes an extra in his own romantic relationship.

and the story just goes to trash at around vol 4 or so, it starts fucking around with dumbass wars and events that nobody really cares about, and vol 6 is just...ugh. an entire volume in which nothing happens. at all.
