At least, that's what I understand from the Japanese raw. So far, it haven't said anything about other piercings though.

There are a lot more options than that. I'm just sayin'.

On the question of "how shocking is this really," a guy that young with a lot of earrings is (in my experience) pretty unusual in Japan still. But in a busy part of a big city you'll see trendy-looking women with lots of them and it's not that big a deal. (Consider Marin from My Dress-Up Darling.)

It's a more recent thing though. Visiting Tokyo in the middle '00s, I only had three or four in each ear, and that was unusual enough that I could overhear strangers talking about them in public places. (My spoken Japanese isn't much, but "piasu" stands out.)
