Would you mind telling why?
i read 220 chapters of the WN and i personally don’t really remember being disappointed by this part in particular? blanc is my favourite character by far and she adds some lighthearted fun that rare, who is overly cautious literally all the time, does not, and as for the aftermath of the capital takeover i was pretty hyped about it iirc, not really sure where they’re coming from

as for criticisms of the series as a whole, it’s flawed and inconsistent in writing quality, and imo the best arc is already over in the manga with the first rare as a calamity vs players encounter. i did end up feeling like i was reading because of sunk cost fallacy at a point, because moments of real tension were… rare
rare as a main character is an extremely cautious person and almost always makes the optimal plays even if they’re really boring to read about, and the players never really do anything relevant again aside from getting curbstomped nonstop, though their forum reactions to the game and news about rare’s faction were among the most fun to read aside from blanc interactions. a good portion of the novel is rare just creating ridiculously op creatures, equipment and evolving her subordinates with alchemy while the other players all struggle to fight very basic nameless minions and the gap between rare + her allies and the other players just keeps getting wider, which is so disappointing after the good tactical showing they just had. i’d say that’s one of the main reasons my interest petered out, though there were occasional flashes of inspired writing or good arcs here and there

Thank you for the translation!

I have read the first 3 books of the LN, and own number 4 as well. So far I really love it! An intelligent, strong female lead is enough to keep me reading. Blanc may not be described in the same way, but she sure lightens the mood. :)

I swear this chapter was already out before and that I read it, am I tripping?
Nope... seems another manga that became victim to chapter snatching/vanishing again.. this are re-uploads or someone translating them from scratch again

Absolutely certain I saw this chapter and I’m assuming the next one where the vampire girl gets her subordinates. Did some chapters need to be reloaded? Either way, thanks for the upload!

Ayy its updated

A skelly doing girly movements is... Something, especially with this art style lol

Looks like the manga skipped over some stuff again
Blanc did mentioned she was insta killed by ants in a cave, but the manga skipped the part she basically got spawn camped by the ants. Also the reason her spawn got reset was because previous spawn has "become the home territory of another player" (sounds familiar doesn't it?)

They aslo skipped the implications Blanc IRL is hospitalized, tho even in the novels this was something that was only implied once and has no impact on the main plot. We do lost the irony of a sick patient playing as an undead tho...

I will also just add that as fun as Blanc is here and in the WN, she's even better in the LN AND got some more fleshed out backstory and out-of-game scenes here and there. (Same as Rare got some backfilled backstory in the earlier volumes of the LN based on what was kinda decided for her later on)

Ah, so a classic case of "This game would suck ass if it was real"
there are maaaaaany cases of this being true about boot hour shit curse

- like another commenter mentioned, blanc started as a skeleton which means she would be mobbed by humans if she started in the human side (as shown in chapter. 1), so she chose the monster spawn point instead. she got spawnkilled by enemies over and over just after beginning the game because rare had turned her original spawn point into a base which caused it to be a reassigned. bearing in mind that deaths in the game prevent immediate revives, which means she had to wait between each death. blanc only pushed thru the absolute bullshit cos she’s an optimist and The Goat.
  • the alpha testing for the game wasn’t a separate thing, and the world state is the same, just chronologically many years before the beta release start. this meant that an alpha tester could bury OP items only they knew about in the ground and start obscenely overpowered in the beta or the official release compared to every regular player, including things players wouldn’t normally have access to
  • there was an extremely important raid boss that rare soloed, the other players only got to kill waves of the same minions, catch just a single glimpse of her fighting and then rechallenge a significantly nerfed version of the boss after it died
  • subordinate feature is just disgustingly op. even blanc who is a more casual player than sweatgod rare and only has a few subordinates is significantly stronger than everybody else, and the devs aren’t constantly patching exploits like they do for maple in bofuri for instance. even if it makes for a fun read from the reader’s perspective, they’d rather integrate rare as a boss and give her special features nobody else has access to than balance their own game properly. alchemy’s also pretty ridiculous, but the reason why rare is able to abuse it so much is because she can basically ignore the exp reduction penalty due to how easy it is to amass exp through subordinates. the only reason why every player in the game isn’t running this build is because obtaining it is relatively obscure and the players who do have it aren’t posting about it on the forums at all
  • it’s a commonality in a lot of vrmmo series like sao, but learning martial arts puts you at a major advantage compared to other players at the same level to the point of making pvp very unbalanced

Mind you this did get patched... On official launch day. Normally this is something that should have been discovered and patched during alpha or beta tests

As others have said Rare is an extremely cautious person.

Except for this arc (though it might count as a separate arc) where she attacks a town (in a neighbouring country IIRC), where she throws caution to the wind and gets caught in an obvious trap.

This all happens because there is another player who figured all of this shit out way before Rare you guys, because that player is such a genius and so mysterious and kewl. And they figured that Rare MUST be a player based on, idk astrology or some shit, because omigosh you guys, they are SUCH a genius. And did I mention you guys that that mystery player is RARE'S SISTER you guys?!

And she figured that Rare, who must be a player (again, idk how), will definitely just step into this very obvious trap, because such a player must be just like her (the sister).

And that was some of the worst writing I have read in my life.

Except she didn't, her trap ran on the expectation the calamity is an NPC

And...there's something truly fantastic about a hyper-giddy, plucky skeleton. The contrast between the detailed/realistic portrayal with the dialogue & mannerisms was just great juxtaposing comedy.
Right? I'm sad we're already past that part. I want more hyper-active skeleton.

The game is functionaly a real world just AI driven. It is a sandbox so there is no story outside of events (of which Rare has mess all of them up by taking the event bosses) if you kill and NPC they are dead and there family will mourn them becasue to the NPCs this world is real (not going to get into the whole philosophical over what it means to be real). Honestly outside of having to spend starting XP because the game forces costs on you simply for picking a race like and Elf it sound like it would be a fun game. Not really adressed up to this point in the manga (and may never be) the devs are very hands off letting the world develop mostly natrualy.

Literally every story beat cannot be made because a single player derrailed it, how is that not "the game suck ass if it was real"?

Rare might as well have spanwcamped people.

Think about playing this game as literally any of the people not on the monsters faction.
