i read 220 chapters of the WN and i personally don’t really remember being disappointed by this part in particular? blanc is my favourite character by far and she adds some lighthearted fun that rare, who is overly cautious literally all the time, does not, and as for the aftermath of the capital takeover i was pretty hyped about it iirc, not really sure where they’re coming fromWould you mind telling why?
as for criticisms of the series as a whole, it’s flawed and inconsistent in writing quality, and imo the best arc is already over in the manga with the first rare as a calamity vs players encounter. i did end up feeling like i was reading because of sunk cost fallacy at a point, because moments of real tension were… rare
rare as a main character is an extremely cautious person and almost always makes the optimal plays even if they’re really boring to read about, and the players never really do anything relevant again aside from getting curbstomped nonstop, though their forum reactions to the game and news about rare’s faction were among the most fun to read aside from blanc interactions. a good portion of the novel is rare just creating ridiculously op creatures, equipment and evolving her subordinates with alchemy while the other players all struggle to fight very basic nameless minions and the gap between rare + her allies and the other players just keeps getting wider, which is so disappointing after the good tactical showing they just had. i’d say that’s one of the main reasons my interest petered out, though there were occasional flashes of inspired writing or good arcs here and there
