SCP's are often based on references in other media so that wouldn't be hard to believe.

sad that the interview log wasn't covered but that wouldn't be easy to summarize in a few panels I guess

This is one of the SCP's you encounter in the PC video game, so give it try if you will.

I did not understand,
If you give the place a name you will turn into a creature that lives in that place?
Any object that you write the name of the forest will gain life?

This is one of my favorite SCPs of all time. The descriptions of some of the effects and how you can't say the same thing about it twice and just...its so goddam unsettling

Oh shit, this is the fairy forest right? Yeah this one's a doozy. Probably one of, if not the, hardest SCPS to understand when first reading.

Trying to really summarize this, the things and living beings of the fae forest steal names. Using the example of the guy who said mercy a bunch of times. From context clues in the article, we can figure out the guy panicked, yelled MERCY a lot when meeting an entity "sitting on a throne of bones and cradling a flaming child" and unknowingly made the entity get fucky, either by giving it the name "mercy" or making the entity refer to him as such. Hence the guy saing "he's a merciful guy" is the entity referring to the agent, but everybody recognizes the entity as the agent because it stole his name. The vomiting blood and bone marrow? That's just the entity doing its usual thing, but everybody thinks it's the agent suffering some reality-warping fuckery.

There's a interview in the 4000 article that makes it a lot easier to understand, which sadly isn't in this chapter.

@hyenagames Using desk guy as an example, he gave a name to the road and got fucked. The agent and his desk switched names, so when they said they found traces of flesh and soil on his desk, they were actually looking at him. Since the desk isn't exactly living, it didn't steal his name (also he gave a name to the road), so they fused together, but they could differentiate one from the other. In the article, they (paraphrasing) say "Agent Desk Desk dissapeared and traces of him were found on harvey winveston".

Oh god the fairy forest, this one was great.
Do give the entire article a read, especially the exploration log, it's positively unsettling.

Faithful readers of SCP, do correct my mistakes if any, as I am but a new reader.

To first understand this SCP article, you should know the entities' origin. These creatures are refugees from a certain war, and now have deserted our reality and seek shelter in this anomalous forest. As a price, those forest dwellers are stripped bare of their name. A name is needed for them to return to our reality. A name is how you adress something, possibly more than twice. The nameless ones have no ability to give a name, however, these anomalous neighbors of ours can be quite crafty in order to steal one, so beware.

There are ways to interact with the SCP in question. One, do not address anything affiliated to the anomalous woods using the same words repeatedly. Two, do not heed or react when being addressed with a name by these name-stealers. Three, basic mannerism.

One particular interview log tells about a particular doctor and his interviewee. The interviewer and his conversation partner were often to meet beforehand as a way for the foundation to further study the anomaly of this mysterious forest, and these two were friendly with each other after all the talk happened. At one time, the anomalous individual addressed the the poor doctor and himself as fellow scholarship, and was inadvertently replied. With just that, it managed to steal the poor guy's name and his whole existence, taking over the body, then walked out of containment.

That's the log the commentators are talking about.

Tl;Dr

If you name them, they invade your body. If they name you, you invade their body, which leaves your own body empty so they can take over.
