Until we get actual in story proof, I am convinced that none of the girls have actually joined his party.

Either cause he rejects them, or cause he ends up scaring them away.

In most games, particularly TTRPGs (which this is heavily inspired by), Vit or Con determines how many hit points you have, which directly translates to how much damage you can take; a pretty important factor for a tank to consider.

Some games even take it a step further an tie Vit to what armor you can wear. A good example is Dark Souls 3, where Vitality increases your Physical Defenses a bit, as well as your equip load (aka, how much you can wear).

Why would you have a party when soloing:
- you get all the XP
- you get all the loot
- you don't have to part-time as a psychoanalyst for your party members who constantly harass you with their personal issues
