Pretty much. The dynamic between what he wants sexually vs. what he likes romantically obviously has to end sooner rather than later, so why not make it so nobody gets what they want?
Ueno's biggest flaw is characterizing men as boring plot devices to create sexual tension. I was hoping this would be a little different...

Won't do it until the manga ends. Gyaru Sen was even hornier with literally everything happening, even what looked like sex, but only in the final chapter after what looked like an axe did the MC fuck.
