Punishing the MD userbase by arbitrarily withholding TLs because of a stupid personal beef with site mods over an incredibly inconsequential thing?

Oh yeah, it's real scanlator hours. Here I thought the ones who left because of people complaining about their running-commentary translator notes all over the manga were petty.

The Japanese manga is going on a break. I’m unsure how long the author’s hiatus will last, but it should be around 15 days from now. Additionally, there will be no new English chapters on MangaDex. However, I will continue releasing new chapters on as many other sites as possible, just not on MangaDex. Previously uploaded chapters will remain available.

You can read and download the chapters on my website: venante.blogspot.com
New chapters will also be available on my Discord to read and dowload: https://discord.gg/gu623JmPYp
And everywhere else where I can upload it.

Everything is completely free and ad-free.

You ever sit back and think, how did it come to this? ‘Cause I do. Six months. Six whole months since the PEEP tag situation, and I’m still locked outta editing manga titles.

But that’s not even the issue here, ‘cause now? Here we go again. Hajimete no Galthe rare gem—just got its sexual content rating bumped up. And now, according to MangaDex, it’s sitting right there with PEEP. Capisce?

But lemme tell ya something—Hajimete no Gal ain't even close to being as heavy as PEEP. Not even in the same league. And yet, they’re putting ‘em on the same level, like it’s all the same thing.

You mess with PEEP, I can accept. I do. I really do—after some war fatigue, you learn to pick your battles. But you mess with Hajimete no Gal?
Here

Now that, that’s crossing a line.

And what’s worse? No discussion. No debate. No warning. Just bam, some guy in a room makes the call, and that’s it. Everyone else just has to deal with it. They didn’t learn a damn thing from what went down with PEEP ‘cause they won, didn’t they?

And that’s the real issue here. If we’re gonna raise the rating after a real discussion—after the community agrees—fine. Then we raise it. But this? This is just some arbitrary decision, made behind closed doors, no input from the people who actually care.

You think it stops here?

It ain't just about the tags. It’s about respect. It’s about principles. They start small—change a tag here, remove a chapter there—but then what? Maybe next time, your account disappears, and no one even knows why. No explanation, no warning, just gone.

And if they can pull this kinda move over something this minor, what happens when it’s something bigger? How am I supposed to trust them to be fair when it really counts?

I can’t. And when you’re dealing with people like this, there’s only one move left.

I walk.
I don't get involved in SL drama, Mangasex is a very handy aggregator that interfaces with some of the publisher sites. I'm also over 18 so maturity level matters not a lick to me. So please excuse my ignorance but

Can you explain to me be the big deal with the Erotica tags for this and Hajimete no Gal? I get why you are taking issue with the principal of high-handed moderation with no functional appeal process, but I'm not understanding why the big deal between an ecchi and an erotica tag.

Also, as many others have said: I really appreciate your work on this, and respect your decision to not publish on Mangadex/to not use a site for ideological differences. I'm not checking a second site. I have hopes I'll catch your posts on Reddit, but is there a way to get reminders for this (especially since it looks like the axe is coming) and Hajimete no Gal? Chapter/Twitter extras with a reminder?

this manga has on-screen handjobs and hajimete no gal had on-screen doggystyle, if that isn't erotica I don't know what's supposed to be :wooow:
Ikr, maybe people are so degenerate that they see it as normal?.

It just seems to be such a storm in a teacup, suggestive vs erotica doesn't change visibility on the site. Nb pornogrphic does require login / api access.

So now they have a big heart to heart for about two chapters...
And then she kills him. The end.

Brother, just because you type it out like you're giving some big political rights speech doesn't make it any less petty. Maybe they're right, maybe they aren't, but it's just a tag, it's not like it's actually affecting viewership because people will be looking in all of those tags anyway for similar stuff.

A lot of y'all really married to MangaDex like there aren't other places to read manga, officially or otherwise (this is def the best place for scanlations tho). I mostly use TachiyomiSY to read these days, so while MangaDex is one of my most extensively used extensions on it, it ain't nothin' to just add other extensions to find things that ain't posted here if I still wanna read them. Y'all are just lazy.

THAT SAID... I gotta say, this is some petty shit to dip over. I don't run this place nor do I know the intricacies of how the MD staff operate, but I can at the very least say that if they do (or don't do) something, it's probably for a reason. Much like for TV and movies, a single instance of certain materials in a work can and will affect that work's rating. It's the same principle here. You may not like it and you're welcome to feel that way, but going this far doesn't exactly read as taking some kind of moral stance.

I'll consider this the good ending. The MC communicating was a huge W. They will try to rely on each other as a proper couple from now on. He will get therapy and work on his issues with an adequate professional, not other children nor a predatory parent. His envolvement with the other girl will also be eventually communicated, and the gf will decide if they'll tackle this together or if they'll break up. Either way, they learn how there is nothing inherently broken about them, and will leave their teenage angst behind to enter the abusive japanese workforce. And life goes on. That's why it's called PEEP. Because it was just a tiny, brief glimpse of their lives. A view from afar that seems scandalous, but ignores the context of the rest of their lives. It'll be okay. Goodbye, everyone.
