Thanks for seeing this through to the end! That was definitely one of the endings of all time
Personally I felt like it was a waste of timeunironically was the best part of the manga though
We can kinda infer who he ended up with. Had it been Mio he wouldn't have hidden her face. The fact that he did, makes this vague and puts it into question. Why would you do that if he ended up with the girl he was with after passing all the hurdles? Because he doesn't end up with her but her last scene was blowing him and he didn't have the pages to develop it.We literally don't know who he ended up with. There wouldn't be a reason for the shadow if the author planned on revealing their identity.
That said though, thematically Mio (the blonde) just doesn't make much sense. She was barely present in the last couple chapters and the issue with her not really exciting MC still isn't fully gone, while Akeno got heavy focus in the end and has always had an easier time understanding how MC ticks.
As others have mentioned, I think the author made this non-committal ending because the manga got axed and he couldn't flesh out an Akeno ending the way he would have wanted to, but also didn't want to go for Mio when she was just clearly not a good fit for MC, so we got this half-assed shit.
to be fair, the entire manga wasPersonally I felt like it was a waste of time
the evidence this was getting axed came a few chapters ago, when it moved to online onlyWhat a wet fart of an ending.
Also it definitely feels like this got cancelled and they had to rush a conclusion.
I'm pretty sure the one in the final silhouette is Aika, you can see from the position of the ribbon which is at the top, different from Mio who usually wears it loosely down. What a fucking.....I just....goddamnit.
Idk why I ever expect any good writing from Meguru. But Jesus. That was a hard left turn, 3 disparate and compressed chapters in 1, and didn't even tell us which fucking girl he ended up with??
Poor Mio. You deserve better.
