She found trouble all on her own. It's the classic horror story move. First, she just met him, why push to go into his home so quick. That in itself could lead to problems. Second if you hear a sound in a home that is supposedly empty; ignore it. Act like you heard nothing, don't go toward it. It does not exist. Leave! In the case of it being someone else's home, call the police if you feel it necessary. If it's your home, leave and call them; you know who is occupying the space of your home. Third, if you are foolish enough to go back and search for the sound, you find something like this, and you hear someone coming; close the door. You can call the police when you are outside and know that there is no-one following you due to suspecting that you know something. Why waste so much time trying to untie etc. You never know how the captured person may react. They may scream out of fear and alert the person that you found the victim. They may fight you, thinking you are with their captor. Next. When he said the guy was found breaking into his home; agree with him. He just gave you an out. It's an obvious lie, especially since he tied him up instead of informing the police. Act like you side with them. Then get out.
