Wait... one eats ghosts... another can see them... and the third can hear them.

This manga's going for a three wise monkeys theme here.

Made me wonder what actually is Eugene role gonna be. By Shounen law he should and will definitely be related to ghost one way or another

If we go by the three monkeys theme, there is theoretically also the four monkeys, but the last one does famously not have an agreed upon meaning, so Eugene really has all possibilities open to him. But I mean, we know that his grandmother is hauting him, so it might end up connected with that.

If Sekiro is to be believed, the fourth monkey is an invisible monkey. So maybe something related with action? See, hear, say and do? Do no evil? How that relates to spirit is the question

I'm not familiar with Osomatsu, so I could 100% wrong but doesn't Kanzaki's lines about how "the story won't progress without me" simply means that without him, there was no way for Mogari to see the ghost?

I don't think it's outright confirmed, but in chapter 1, Mogari said "I can see them, they're on my turf now." which implies that Mogari can't exorcise spirits or can't exorcise them effectively if he can't see them. Without Kanzaki coming along, it might mean that Mogari won't be able to exorcise the ghost that's trying to kill Tamon, hence his 4th wall break line about the story not being able to progress without him.

Anyways, you still did a phenomenal job translating this, kudos!!

Late but the reference mogari made is not from osomatsu but from another manga of the same author, Doraemon. There is a super rich kid named suneo that often invites his group of friends (4 people) to travel with him, most of the time on his family's private property (like a canoe), but then deliberately exclude the main character after hyping the gang up by saying he only have enough slots for 3.
