I think the author's just jumping them back and forth through time to fit whatever ideas he comes up with.

Agreed with madcat's thought. Not that I hate it. A quick 2 page short to make the day a little better. Jumping through time doesn't exactly matter when the slice of life aspect doesn't even have a permanent setting, but instead, just these two characters.
