Plan for read markers on unfollowed series

Is on the pinned planned features list, which is great! But, is there an indication of how much time it would take to implement?
Currently this is the only improvement I really really need, for the all the same reasons as discussed by other people.

If this is on a shorter timeframe then I'll just wait, but if it's going to be part of a longer-term plan, I might try and make a sort of script to automatically set new series to Reading when I click on them. But it'd be a waste to spend time on that sort of thing if the full feature is only going to be a month or two down the track.

@Afiaki We're actually going to have to revisit whether we're actually going to add this or not, because after looking at our options, we're probably going for a system that doesn't save as much space as it optimally could but should perform significantly faster, both compared to the current system and the "compressed" option.

Or rather, this would hopefully be about whether we'll support persisting these markers on the server database, because (optionally) saving them in local storage shouldn't be too much of an issue. Not necessarily super useful if you're regularly using two or more browsers or wiping the local cache, but it would be something I suppose.

No ETA because it's going to be part of the full site rewrite and it's too early to tell how long we can keep up the pace for that. I would certainly hope it won't take several months but god knows.

could you at least expand the current setup to include series in "dropped, on hold, and plan to read" I clearly could see chapters on dropped, on hold, and plan to read manga to be marked as read, but you can't manually mark them (and afaik the marks are gone after some time(?))
It would be nice if we could have bookmark on where we left off some series before putting it on hold or drop it, possibly to be used when we revisit the series.
It don't have to be a full marking on which chapter user had read like the followed one, maybe one marking defaulted to the last chapter the user read or user's choice chapter.

@pikokola The short answer is yes. The whole follow category system will be changed too with the implementation of custom lists. Everyone's follow categories will be converted into custom lists, which then people can rename, set to private/public/for friends etc. We have two or maybe three options as for how to go about the follows thing, but the current most likely one is that you'll be able to toggle some lists as your "follow lists".
