Doesn't change that MC's party was in custody of the items at the time. If a bank truck gets partially robbed, nobody laughs "Oh well, they only stole the money specifically tied to crime gang xyz ha ha"; the bank truck is still held accountable for their failure to secure the contents during transit. This is the exact same; they lost items in transit and failed to deliver the total load to its end destination.

So after checking previous chapters, the recipients supposedly aren't that innocent, as some come from corrupt nobles, but most are of unknown origins. That said, she didn't give them back, she just scattered them amongst the poor people, including the ring that FMC gave to our MC, probably (unless we find out next chapter that she still has that one, which she better hope she does, or she likely won't be walking out of here).
